We are back this Sunday for the under 18’s
Hi All Gordon and Lewis have just got off a call with British Fencing, we are pleased to say we can open for fencing for U18’s as of this Sunday :-).
Under 18s*
Classes will remain much like previously, with the exception that your allotted coach can only give lessons and cannot actually fence you. Whilst we could have a group of up to 15 fencers we will work it out so that the level of fencing can be maintained for enjoyment and safety.
If you intend to fence on Sunday please book in as early as possible so we know the numbers.
18* and over
We have taken a view that at this point we are not opening for those who are 18 and over. Whilst there is scope for footwork/drill type classes for this group of fencers there is no actual fencing allowed. BFA are pushing the Government hard on this due to all the precautions that we have already put in place. Hopefully this will change in the coming weeks, and or we move to Tier 1 at which point we can open for fencing to all. Please do let us know if you would like footwork/drill class so if the worst comes to the worst we know what numbers we have.
Tiers
We can accept under 18 fencers from all Tiers, however, if you are coming from a Tier 3 location could you email the club as we need to do a risk assessment on a case by case basis.
*We can also change the definition of an Under 18, this is a person who is under 18 or turns 18 in the current school year.
Can you please check if your BFA membership has not expired, if it has could you please renew and let the club know your new end date.
Just some housekeeping notes we would like you to review.
- Kit, please make sure you know where your kit is and keep it under your control, if your kit accidentally or purposefully gets used by someone else make sure they/you sanitize it before re use.
- 2m rule, even when we are in our piste bubbles please make sure you keep two meters apart unless you are fencing. This has been re-iterated by the British Fencing Association as one of the reasons we have been allowed to open when other sports have not and they are keen to make sure we adhere to it.
- Mixing between bubbles, please do not do this, even if you are able to mix outside of the club.
- Please try to fence everyone on your piste during a session, if you need to leave early then please arrange it with other members of your piste. If you are under 18 please make sure one of the committee knows you have left.
We are still only accepting those who fence electric regularly, that is Della & Gordon’s group and up. We will hopefully be able to change this in the coming weeks. If you have a child in Simon’s (beginners) group please let us know if you intend to come back so that we can gauge interest.
You can still borrow kit if you need to or need to exchange something you have already borrowed, please get in contact with us to make sure we have it with us on Sunday.
Remember you will need to do the following (only 2 & 3 if you have already done 1 previously). Booking will close on Friday so that we have time to allocate you to a piste.

2. Booked in specifically for this weekend: http://e24.fba.mytemp.website/booking/
