Christmas Newsletter

Next Term Dates and Fees

Hi, It’s nearly the Christmas holiday and no doubt your mind is turning to presents and mince pies, but before you get too excited we have one more Club session on 15th December. We hope to see you there! In the New Year the Club will restart on the 5th January 2014  – 9th February (6 weeks)* Fees: £36 adult, £30 junior/student and then 2nd March – 30th March (5 weeks) Fees: £30 adult, £25 junior/student Payment for the New  Year can be made by cheque (payable to Lewes Fencing Club) or cash. Please help us to keep our fees low by paying promptly on 5th Jan. This also saves us admin time so the committee members can enjoy as much fencing as everyone else 🙂 .
Look ahead to our February competition* On 16th February we are planning a Club competition – this will be 7 weeks into the New Year and a great incentive to get back into shape after Christmas. It will be open to all Lewes members with invitations going out to a small number of local fencing clubs. Juniors will compete in a non-electric competition and regular electric fencers will be on the piste. Once we have the hall booked we’ll provide more information. Volunteers will be needed to help us run the day so please let us know if mums, dads or friends can help.

Going from strength to strength!

The two recent beginner’s courses have been a great success with a number of  new adults and juniors joining the existing fencers. It’s great to see the Club grow and we attract around 30 fencers every week.  With this in mind we need to make a gentle reminder about our kit policy. We try to supply kit to everyone who needs it but with beginners taking priority there may be times when some existing fencers have to share and borrow. Christmas may be the ideal time to get yourself some kit. If you need more information on buying your own kit check our guide out on our website or speak to us at the club.

Winter

We try and avoid cancellations to Club sessions but there are times when this is unavoidable. Short notice cancellations will be announced on Facebook, Twitter and our website so to make sure you stay informed please Like Us us on Facebook or Follow Us on Twitter.

Don’t worry about the waist line this Christmas – just come fencing in 2014!

Fencing is an excellent way to keep fit so rather than worrying about putting on a few lbs or kilos this Christmas just make sure you join us in 2014.  If you haven’t been for a while then we’d love to see you again. Turn up and join in. If we don’t see you on 15th December then we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, LFC Committee
