Club Competition – 16th Feb

On the 16th February we will be running an internal competition for members and a number of invited clubs.

We will be having two competitions, a non-electric for the Junior club and an electric competition for those who are regularly fencing on piste. To make sure things run smoothly on the day we will be asking people to sign up before the day, entries should be in by the 9th of February.  Cost for entry will be £5 for the non electric competition and £10 for the electric, just see one of the committee with your entry fee and we will add you to the list. Both competitions will start at 10am.

Format of both competitions will be an initial group of poules (groups of 5/6 fencers fencing each other), this will allow ranking and then using a Direct Elimination (DE) system to whittle down to the winners.  At this point we cannot say what time the competition will end but we would expect the non electric competition to finish by 12pm, the electric competition will go on longer but we have a deadline of 4pm.

Out ultimate goal is to make sure every one has a great time, so depending on entries we may alter the format of the competition so that everyone gets a reasonable amount of fencing in.  At the same time we will be trying to run it as close to a normal competition so that people will find doing an external competition less daunting.  We would like to see everyone sign up and have a go, if you are nervous or unsure please do not hesitate to speak to one of the committee.

We have the whole hall to ourselves, which is plenty of space so parents and friends are welcome to come and watch.
