Kit
Our kit is starting to show its age and Simon is doing an excellent job at keeping it running, here is what you can do to help:-

  • Do not let body clips fly back into the spools when you un-clip.
  • Please do not twirl body wires around in between bouts, it weakens them..
  • Don’t walk over wires at the back of pistes, tripping on the spool wires can break the clips that attach them to jackets and also rip the jackets.
  • Check your points have both screws in them.
  • If you find any kit that is unusable please report it rather than putting it back into the bags.

*** It would also be a great help if when taking your kit off you put in back in the relevant place, and if you have finished fencing or are just waiting to pick up your kids helping us put away the kit means we all have more time to fence and coach.

Hoodies and Other Club Kit
A reminder about hoodies and other club branded kit can be purchased from here.

Welfare Courses
Are you looking to get involved with fencing some more?  The South East Region is organising Welfare courses in the new year.  There are 3 courses (all required for full Wefare Officer status) being run on the 23rd February 2020, spaces are running out so if you would like to go on one or all of them please register ASAP. NB. You will need at least a support level BFA membership. Please see Gordon for more information, or email jclayton@kentfencing.org.uk

British Fencing Association (BFA) membership – reminder.
The BFA has reviewed their membership scheme for Clubs and individual fencers. The Club is covered by BFA membership but the BFA strongly recommends that members buy their own membership as this includes insurance cover for fighting in the Club. To find out more and purchase your membership visit the BFA Website, details of each category can be found in this document. Costs are from just £19 per year.

Front of House: Ticking in people on Sundays, being handy to answer questions from ‘Walk ins’, working with the Treasurer to account for fees.

Kids Taster Session
We are trying to standardise on taster sessions for kids between 8 and 11 on the last Sunday of the Month, there will be a few exceptions to this

If you know of anyone who have children who might be interested joining the session then please ask them to get in touch at enquiries@lewesfencingclub.org.uk and book their place.

Indigo Fencing
Indigo fencing is running another one of their excellent training camps between the 5th and 8th April, you can do all 4 days or individual ones.  If you are interested please speak to Della or Gordon and they will give you more details on what to expect and how to book.
