Governance/Policies /Safeguarding
Our Welfare Officer is Jo Banks supported by Claire Cox
Jo and Claire are on the club committee and are trained for this role. British Fencing has expanded the need to have not only the safeguarding of young people as a priority, but to include the safeguarding and welfare of everyone (all fencers and those linked in some way such as coaches, armourists, visitors, parents etc) EVERYONE is at risk. It is also EVERYONE’s RESPONSIBILITY to watch out and raise concerns. The welfare officer can be contacted with any questions or concerns, as are all the committee, or by email to Jo at Safeguarding@lewesfencingclub.org.uk
British Fencing (BF) will be promoting ways to help parents fulfill their promises which include:
“I promise to make sure the club we choose together is safe and fun”
To do this you can check:
that our club coaches are on the BF register: https://www.britishfencing.com/accredited-coaches/
(Lewis McInley, Gordon Mankelow and Della Bowley)
